Observatory delivered visual contents for dress projection mapping, theatrical visual backdrops, and technical solutions for Sorbier’s new fashion concept sponsored by Intel. Artboards from the fashion designer challenged the team with surrealist themes. The 20min show focused on visually contrasting imagery and was loosely based on the French fairy tale “P’eau D’anne”.

RIHANNA FOR RIVER ISLAND

Observatory delivered a collection of videos mapped to the shape of the stage to launch Rihanna’s new clothesline with River Island. This heavily publicized event required a minimal linear b/w touch (as to not distract away from the clothes) with a few live elements to synchronize and highlight “moments”

Observatory developed several assets for Bonaveri, including a brand film and optimised 3d assets for an AR app. The new range of mannequins were launched as part of the Spring Summer Milan fashion week.
COSMOPOLITAN FASH FEST

We produced the stage contents for Cosmopolitan’s Fashfest for several years, filling their catwalk with projection-mapped surfaces and producing the accompanying Awards graphics. This show was sponsored by Visa and sometimes featured on “Britain’s Next Top Model”.
DKNY CATWALK VISUALS

We were commissioned by Satore and My Beautiful City to execute a ultrawide projected installation to accompany the showcase runway show for DKNY in London, Launching their Spring Summer collection last year.

Observatory worked with Hugo Boss and Satore Studio to produce motion graphic assets for this exclusive ‘360 event’. We created a title sequence and an online promotional video, released as part of the build-up to the launch of the AW17 Hugo Boss Womenswear collection.

Observatory collaborated with Enterstice (once again) to launch the electric version of Opel’s Corsa. The launch event took place at Palace Pharo in Marseille and included video mapping onto the car, a multi-screen LED stage installation, an interactive presentation and an LED suit dance troupe. We produced all the visual content and sound design for this 40min show and consulted on the technical delivery.
To celebrate the relaunch of the Sky VR app, Observatory were commissioned to create a 360º video covering Lewis Hamiltons past success and previous season as reigning world Champion. Footage shot in studio was rotoscoped, so that Lewis could be seated in a virtual world where highlights of all the action could be presented in his environment.

In collaboration with Enterstice, Observatory directed and produced a 3 minute opening show for intel which was projected onto the marseille open 13 tennis court before each match. Using traditional mapping techniques (illusions / depth) the audiovisual piece was created as loops and triggered by DJ Fred Viktor on Millumin. Observatory also produced accompanying LED graphics, logo animations and background graphics for the court screens and plasma screens around the venue.
To launch the new Esports team backed by Edge Esports, Observatory were commissioned to direct and create a 30 sec promo film video used online and at events. A film shoot was executed on the Southbank and content was rotoscoped before receiving a graphic treatment to give the new brand a unique look and appeal.
AGENCY: Copa 90 / Jaunt

Observatory was commissioned to Creatively Direct and Visually produce this 360 Igloo experience alongside Jaunt (filmography) for Copa 90’s Campaign whereby Uber positioned itself as an official sponsor of Man UTD. This unique visitor experience took place in cities around Asia and transported the Old Trafford experience to audiences on the other side of the world so they could live the dream of visiting the notorious football ground.
Observatory executed the video projection mapping for this promotional event, which also included theatre, sound installations and a ‘360 experience’. Guests were guided around three venues by actors including Jude Law, experiencing several installations before witnessing the video mapping onto the newly launched car in a creatively lit tunnel.
Creative Direction, VR/AR, Sport + Automotive
Observatory were approached to design an interactive VR / AR app to give intuitive access to the rich history of the Olympic archives. Displayed initially as a map, the design organised content from over 40 years by location, event and brought attention to world record holders and memorable figures from sporting history. Key components from the VR experience were taken into a short augmented reality experience also for future development.

BRITISH MUSEUM: POSADA (DAY OF THE DEAD)

The British Museum sponsored a unique event to celebrate Mexican Artist Posada as part of an exhibition spanning the Haloween period. Directed by Tupac Martir, Observatory produced a series of six animations to be projected onto the facade of the building, each created around Posada’s imagery and the Day of the Dead theme. The project implemented social interaction with people posting names of the recently deceased which appeared on the building. Another animation brought to life Posada’s “Catrinas” (female skeletal gures aspiring to be upper class), which went viral, collecting nearly one million views alongside the online event campaign.
SENSIA BRAND FILM
SKILLS: Creative Direction, 360 Content, VR App Development
We worked with Sensia to produce several brand pieces to explain the launch of this new company using VR, Igloo and standard format video presentations. From Storyboard to delivery of a 5min film through a VR app and onsite support for trade show events.
Observatory produced two visual segments for the Paris launch event announcing Intel’s new processor Haswell. Set in the new Digital Arts venue La Gaite Lyrique, the event began with a ultra-wide video presentation and talk, and was followed by a 360 club experience with live music including a harpist, interactive lazer and touch control audiovisual samples.
HSBC sponsored a large tradeshow called CogX, which focused on future technologies and developments in AI. Observatory were commissioned to produce an interactive touchscreen installation in the style of “Choose your own Adventure” to play out various scenarios in the future of banking and how AI might help advise and consult.

Nec wanted a dramatic entrance to their corporate showcase event in Millbank tower, and commissioned Observatory to design a projection mapping show based on their new technologies and the uses of these products and services around London. Utilizing a cinema on the ground floor our team designed a 3d model that interpreted the London skyline and created a 5 min animation transitioning the 3d form through various states of present and future technologies.

A holographic piece produced for Randstad to be played back on a Musion Hologram system. The commission was created around the theme of pollution and environmental concerns and toured around a number of exhibitions including Yota Space and Kinetica Art fair.

DUA LIPA (AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS)

In collaboration with Ceremony London and The PixelMappers, Observatory supplied creative direction and visual production for content totalling 40m pixels. Observatory pulled together a team to deliver contents on an LED cylinder and 2 projection canvases in the Royal Albert Hall. Full on-site delivery including the management of 2 media server teams + operators. Currently 30m views online.
Observatory has produced a large quantity of BBC events since 2013. This project was for BBC Radio 1Xtra launched through the online platform Reactoo during Lockdown. Observatory created a range of broadcast elements including but not limited to Openers, idents, endboards, astons and social media content.
DONEL: THE VOICE

Observatory worked with Black Skull and Light Initiative to create a synchronized performance for The Voice. We created 4k contents for the ultra-wide LED stage install and synchronised this content across a string field which rippled and triggered in time with the dancers moves.
Observatory were commissioned to direct and produce a 3 minute opening show for BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend festival in Londonderry which was projected onto Ebrington Barracks to launch the event. The project was requested to showcase radio 1 DJs who were shot on green screen and composited into a virtual control interface. Observatory commissioned several artists to produce a mix of VJ and mapping contents which were pulled together for the final edit.
Observatory produces visuals for Naughty Boy’s touring outfit which has so far been showcased internationally at events like Capital FMs Summertime Ball, iTunes festival and the O2.
Observatory curated the art direction for the full package and brought in artists such as Devan Harlan and Michael Paul Young to deliver the vision. The contents for the second album are now being prepared which will feature Beyonce and Zayn.

Observatory provided a full end to end concept to deliver 7 television commercials for a large middle eastern broadcast company. ‘Sadeem’ is a reality tv show in which social media influencers take part in a “vote off” format. From storyboard to on site shoot direction, motion graphic production and editing; an example of our capabilities from the inception phase of the project to give an end result of this calibre.
Upon Kettels new release Observatory was asked to adapt the abstract artwork of Kettel’s new album release into a narrative for online promotion. Kettel exported the different instruments in the track so that we could build a landscape flythrough visual that responded to the different parts of the music. It was an opportunity to experiment with some new visual techniques and received good publicity online.
