Meet The Team
MD / Creative Director
A hands-on Creative Director who has won several awards for visual content whilst working abroad in the US, Japan, and Paris for 10+ years. Sheppee has directed several landmark projection mapping projects and has delivered and shows for A-list music acts. His first company distributed art films, releasing 240 films by 70+ designers and he has written for publications on the subject.
Director of Production
With his extensive technical video project management and production experience, Simon brings a unique skill set honed from 15 years working with visual professionals from all areas of the entertainment industry. From music festivals in the US, through concerts across Europe, to corporate events globally, he combines strong technical knowledge with artistic empathy to deliver the client’s vision.
With a background in management accounts, working for financial institutions in the city, Valeria moved into forensic accounting and now heads up affairs for Observatory. She is also generally the first on the dance floor with a glass of wine and usually gets the party started. She keeps the paperwork and the boys in check.
Experienced designer working primarily in installations, film, and experimental live performances. Beginning in print graphics, Mike’s work evolved conceptually to address social and environmental themes and explore collaborative processes. His works have been published extensively in print and on dvd internationally and his key projects have been toured by the British Council.
Lead 3d Artist
A 3D/VFX artist who enjoys blurring the line between reality and virtual, making people question whether effects being used at all. With an MA in digital effects, Chan first joined the team from his background in projection mapping and has since expanded his skill set across platforms using a myriad of techniques. Oh – and a Qualified drone pilot.
3D Digital Artist
With a background in TV graphics, Hill joined us all the way from Hong Kong in 2021 and very quickly became part of the Observatory family. His supreme 3D modelling, texturing and lighting prowess keep clients coming back for more and we’re all eager to see how far he can take his incredible skill set. A relaxed demeanour as well as perfectionist dedication has made a positive impact on the office.
3D Digital Artist
With a wealth of expertise in the design and film industries, Hyeyeon initially began learning Cinema 4D as a hobby but quickly realised that 3D Motion is her artistic passion. She joined Observatory in 2022 as a 3D artist, bringing her unique vision to the team. Hyeyeon bases her design philosophy on the idea of making the artwork easy to grasp, and always aims to share a deep message via her pieces.
Digital Media Producer
With 10+ experience across digital journalism, product, and marketing, Dzera joined Observatory as a Digital Media Producer as part of a significant team expansion. Working at the intersection of content development, media marketing and technology, Dzera is passionate about making our digital platforms a better place for the community and clients.
King San Samuel Suen
With his diverse portfolio of interactive art projects ranging from AR applications to a self-created computer game, King is a media artist who specialises in programming, music, and conceptual art. He joined Observatory as an Interactive Designer to bring his technological perspective to the creation process, experimenting with real-time interactive multimedia content and generative visuals in programmes like TouchDesigner and Unreal Engine.
In between naps and treats, Hero is on duty 24/7 being cute and keeping us company. Our pup is the best coworker we could dream about!
